From the organizers of SIMLA 2013, we would like to inform that Dr Venkata Raghava was not authorized to approach any guest speakers. The responsibility of selection of guest speakers was left to organizing  subcommittee of the organizing team. The subcommittee was guided by Dr PK Devadass. The subcommittee selected the speakers by having a set of rule.
·         Not to invite speakers who have already spoken about the same subject in different forums repeatedly.
·         If they belonged to Forensic Medicine they should have contributed to SIMLA at least by attending the conferences regularly.
·         The speaker should be authority in their own field.
Hence the subcommittee has chosen the guest speakers purely on merit. As you all know that the guest speakers who delivered guest lectures like the Neuropathologist from National institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences, Bangalore and is the top Neuropathologist in the country and one among the best Neuropathologist in the world.
The speaker from Indian institute of science is Head of the Department doing original research in injuries in motor vehicles accidents and is also an authority.  As you all know Indian institute of science is a premiere institute in this country.
The entomologists who had delivered the lecture is an authority in fruit flies in the country and he is from the prestigious University of Agriculture science i.e the University of Agriculture science, GKVK, Bangalore.
The forensic psychiatrist who delivered lecture is from National institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences, Bangalore and has done lot of research in forensic psychiatry . to our knowledge he may be the only one who can talk about forensic psychiatry with authority.
The other speaker is a world renowned forensic scientist, Padmabhushan awardee, extensively travelled and travelling all over the world delivering lectures.
The last speaker was from University of Manchester doing research at Indian institute of Science.
With respect to toxicology we could not get a practicing toxicologist as per our expectation.
Through this mail I would like to convey to my friends from Forensic Medicine who were requesting us to give an opportunity to deliver a lecture at SIMLA 2013 by repeatedly sending emails, we have politely declined the request for the reasons mentioned above. Kindly excuse and pardon us if we have hurt any body’s feelings.

Thank you one and all,

With regards,

Dr PK Devadass

Head  subcommittee,
For selection of guest speakers
SIMLA 2013.

A very big thanks to all delegates who attended SIMLA 2013 Conference held at Bangalore Medical College & Research Institute between 27th to 29th September. Your presence and participation has taken the conference to a higher level, without your participation the conference would not have been a success.
As you were witness to the Deliberation and the proceedings of the Conference,  You  very well know that the conference was a big success, to prove the point we have received excellent feedbacks from the Delegates, Speakers and the Judges. The last day of the Conference post lunch headcount was more than 300 Delegates, the auditorium was almost full for all the 3 days, very few Delegates went out of the auditorium for a small break. The delegates stayed in the hall till the very end of the programs
Some of the comments from the feedback:

Ø  Excellent especially by a govt. institutional set up..

Ø  SIMLA 2013 was the best I had attended so far in my PG periods. Talks by  Dr.P.Chandrashekaran and former chief justice of India Venkatachalaiah Sir were motivating and hair raising…

There are many more comments………………

Few delegates have indicated interest in toxicology ,we regret  that we could not arrange a guest speaker in the subject of Toxicology, since we could not get an eminent speaker to deliver guest lecture in the subject of Toxicology…
